"Mindblinded"
In this painting, the praying mantis becomes a symbol of the mind?not just as a guiding force, but as something that can block our access to true perception. Its sharp legs pierce the woman’s eyes, as if to say: when the mind tries to control everything, it distorts reality, cuts off clarity, and separates us from our natural, intuitive way of being.
The tear that slips from her pierced eye speaks of the pain born from this inner struggle — between the need to stay in control and the deep yearning to break free, to see the world (and yourself) as it really is.
This piece is an invitation to notice how dominant the mind has become — and how liberation begins when we gently loosen its grip. Only then can we return to a more balanced, embodied way of living.
The whole composition becomes a quiet reflection on how easily we lose touch with our inner world when we trust only logic, forgetting the quiet wisdom of our body and intuition.
Mantis questions for your contemplation and reflection:
- Where in your body do you feel tension when your mind tries to control everything?
- What shifts inside you when you simply allow yourself to see, feel, and experience — without analyzing?
- What would change in your life if you trusted not your thoughts, but your sensations?
